Yahoo’s Embarrassed Ex-CEO Finds a New Job

He’s now CEO of ShopRunner, a start-up that gives members two-day shipping from some retail sites

Scott Thompson, the Yahoo CEO who left in May after four months in the job because it was discovered that he gave himself an undergraduate degree in computer science, has gotten another job.

He's now CEO of ShopRunner, a start-up that gives members two-day shipping from some retail sites along the lines of Amazon's Prime service, which also collects fees in exchange for faster delivery.

ShopRunner, which figures Thompson's experience as president of PayPal will be useful, said its CEO and co-founder Mike Golden will stay on as president. Thompson and Golden apparently worked together before.

The start-up, which launched 22 months ago, is counting on expanding. It means to introduce a two-click checkout called PayRunner - which sounds PayPal-like - and the option of picking up the package at a convenience store, a scheme called ShipRunner Pickup Points. It expects to facilitate billions of dollars in online and offline commerce.

Kynetic is the majority owner of ShopRunner, which claims some brand names as customers including Toys"R"Us, PetSmart and American Eagle Outfitters.
